Feeding: Archirus lineatus requires a meaty diet. Foods such as prawns, black worms, crustaceans, etc are ideal.
Aquarium: The freshwater flounder (Archirus lineatus) spends most of it’s time stuck to the side of the glass. Although they will be sucking on the glass most of the time, they will not take care of the algae problem. They often want live meat. Because of their small size, the flounder can be successfully kept in a small tank for it’s life. When picking tank mates, keep in mind they like live or meaty foods, even a small fish or two, so find other fish with generally the same requirements.
Breeding: Archirus lineatus breeds in brackish water in the wild. To successfully breed them in an aquarium, consider adding salt to the aquarium as the flounder matures.
